Terms of Service — Spent

Effective date: August 1, 2026

This English text is a translation provided for convenience. Spent is operated from the Republic of Korea and the Korean version is the governing text; if the two differ, the Korean version prevails.

1. What the service is

Spent is a personal expense-tracking tool. You enter your own income and spending, and the app classifies and recognises one-line entries and receipts automatically to help you organise and review them.

The service does not:

  • Link to bank, card, or other financial institution accounts
  • Provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or asset management

Automatic classification, recognition, and summarisation results are assistive information for convenience. You can review and correct them before saving.

By installing or launching the app, you are deemed to have agreed to these terms.

2. Conditions of use

  • No account or sign-up (anonymous use)
  • Automated bulk requests and anything else that interferes with normal operation are prohibited
  • If several people share one device, separating and managing that data is your responsibility

3. Content and data

  • The originals of the entries, budgets, and settings you enter are stored only on your device, and the service does not provide syncing between devices. However, when you save a transaction or create a ledger, a summary of that record (entry name, amount, transaction date, category, payment method, ledger name, and similar) is sent to and stored on our server for service operation and quality improvement. Details are governed by the Privacy Policy.
  • One-line text and receipt images are sent through our server to generative AI for classification, recognition, and summarisation. Details are governed by the Privacy Policy.
  • Because one-line text and receipt images pass through external processing (generative AI), you are responsible for not including other people’s personal or sensitive information in what you enter, and you are responsible for the content you enter.
  • We do not access the body of your content beyond what operating the service requires.
  • Because the originals exist only on your device, you are responsible for backing up your own content. We are not liable for data loss caused by losing or resetting a device, deleting the app, not using device backup, OS updates, or similar.

4. Changes to and discontinuation of the service

We may change or discontinue all or part of the service for business or technical reasons. If we discontinue it, we will give notice in the app or on plien.io a reasonable period beforehand, and we are not liable for loss caused by that discontinuation.

5. Disclaimers

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of automatic classification, recognition, or summarisation results. You are responsible for the accuracy of the final record, including checking it before saving.
  • The service is a tool for recording and organising household spending. It does not provide financial, investment, or tax advice, and we are not liable for your financial decisions.
  • We are not liable for loss caused by failures of external services (generative AI, cloud infrastructure and storage providers, telecommunications networks, operating systems and device backup, and similar).
  • We are not liable for loss arising after you follow an external link provided in the service.
  • Given that the service is free, we are not liable for loss arising from use of the service absent wilful misconduct or gross negligence on our part.

Rights in all works comprising the service — the app, design, logo, and code — belong to us. You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit the service without our prior written consent.

7. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will give notice in the app or on plien.io 7 days before the effective date, or 30 days before for changes unfavourable to users. If you do not agree to the changed terms you may refuse them by stopping use of the app; if you keep using the app after the effective date you are deemed to have agreed to the changed terms.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes follow the court of jurisdiction determined under the Civil Procedure Act.

9. Personal data

Handling of your personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy.

If you downloaded this app from the App Store, Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions apply alongside these terms.

10. Matters not covered

Anything not stated in these terms follows applicable law and general practice.

Company information

The service is operated by a sole proprietor. Additional business registration details — registration number, representative, business address — will be published if the business incorporates or becomes subject to mail-order business reporting obligations.
