Support — Spent
Last updated: July 2026
Spent is a personal expense tracker. You jot income and spending in one line or snap a receipt, and it classifies and organises the entries so you can look back on them. There is no bank or card account linking — every entry comes from you.
The app interface is available in Korean, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese. An English interface is not available yet.

- We usually reply within 2–3 business days.
Quick start
- Tap the + button at the bottom of the home screen.
- Under One line, write the way you talk — for example,
Lunch burrito 12. - The amount, category, and store fill themselves in. Check them, correct anything that is off, and save.
- For receipts, use + > Receipt to take a photo or pick one from your library; line items and amounts are read automatically.
- The Analysis tab shows spending by category and the monthly recap.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything? Are there ads?
It is currently free and has no ads. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and never asks for tracking permission.
How do I enter something?
Write one line, like Lunch burrito 12, and the amount, category, and store fill themselves in. Automatic classification is an estimate based on what you wrote, so check it before saving and correct anything that is wrong.
The automatic classification got it wrong
On the save screen you can change the category, amount, store, and payment method before saving. You can add and edit the categories you use most in Settings > Manage categories.
Can I use it without an internet connection?
One-line entry works offline using basic classification. More accurate classification, receipt recognition, and the monthly recap need a connection. Receipt recognition requires internet access.
The receipt is not being recognised
- Shoot in good light with the whole receipt clearly in frame.
- Blurred or crumpled receipts can be hard to read.
- Taking a photo needs camera permission. Allow it in Settings > Spent > Camera. Picking from your photo library needs no extra permission.
- An unstable connection can make recognition fail. Wait a moment and try again.
Does what I type, or my receipt, get sent to a server?
Yes, in two ways.
For automatic classification, receipt recognition, and the monthly recap, the one-line text and receipt image are sent through our server to generative AI. Only the result — amount, category, store name, sentence — comes back to the app, and your name or account is never sent with it.
Separately, when you save a transaction or create a ledger, a summary of that record (entry name, amount, date, category, and similar) is sent to and stored on our server so we can see how the service is running and improve classification quality. This applies equally when you type the entry in on the keypad. The originals stored on your device are not synced to the server wholesale, and no name or account is sent. See the Privacy Policy for the full list.
How do I set a budget?
Set a monthly budget in Settings > This month’s budget. The home screen then shows what is left.
Can I see my entries on another device?
Not currently — there is no syncing between devices. Entries stay on the device you wrote them on, so they will not appear on another device even under the same Apple Account.
If I change devices, do I lose everything?
If you have a full device backup (iCloud device backup or a computer backup) and restore the new device from it, your Spent entries come across too. If you just install the app fresh on a new device without a backup, previous entries do not carry over. Deleting the app also deletes the entries stored on that device.
You can check your backup status in Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Device backup is a feature Apple provides and you manage it yourself.
I want my data deleted
- Settings > Data > Reset “<ledger name>” entries deletes every entry in that ledger. If you have several ledgers, reset them one at a time.
- Deleting the app deletes the data stored on the device.
- If you have used a full device backup, app data may remain in that backup. Delete it from Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Manage Storage, or from your computer’s backup management screen.
- If you updated from a device running version 1.8.1 or earlier, a copy created by the old version’s iCloud sync may still be in your iCloud. Deleting the Spent item under Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Manage Storage removes it.
- Send requests to access, delete, or suspend processing of personal data to contact@plien.io.
Notes
